In a shared moment of reflection and unity, Empire East employees gathered to commemorate Ash Wednesday and formally begin the Lenten season.

Held at the Empire East Corporate Office, the Mass brought together employees from different departments, along with department heads and sales leaders, in a meaningful pause from the usual pace of work. It served as a reminder that beyond daily tasks and targets, there is also space to reflect, renew, and reconnect with purpose — both personally and as a community.

President and CEO, Atty. Anthony Charlemagne C. Yu, was present during the celebration, reinforcing the company’s continuing commitment to support not only the professional growth of its people, but also their personal and spiritual well-being.

The Eucharistic celebration was led by Fr. Angelo Paolo O. Asper, whose homily centered on the true meaning of fasting and sincerity during the Lenten season. He invited everyone to reflect on a simple but meaningful question: “Am I really happy?”

The question encouraged employees to pause and examine their priorities — not only in life, but also in the way they approach work, relationships, and daily responsibilities.

Fr. Angelo shared that genuine happiness is discovered in what we do each day and in how we treat others. He reminded everyone that happiness grows when it is shared: “If you want to be truly happy, make other people happy.”

This message resonated deeply within the workplace setting, where collaboration, service, and care for one another shape everyday experiences. Employees were encouraged to live each day with intention — making the most of opportunities to do good, grow in faith, and appreciate even the ordinary moments that define who we are.

As ashes were received and prayers were offered, the Empire East community was reminded that the Lenten journey is one best taken together. With renewed hearts and aligned intentions, employees move forward carrying the spirit of humility, compassion, and purpose into their work and daily lives.

This season of reflection reminds us that even in the midst of busy schedules, taking time to pause, care for others, and find meaning in what we do helps build not only stronger individuals — but a stronger Empire East community as well.
