Infanta, Quezon, August 31, 2023 – Volunteers from real estate developer Empire East Land Holdings, Inc. successfully reached out to all the students in New Little Baguio Elementary School as it launched "Support a Student," an Empire East Cares initiative, that aims to equip underprivileged children in accessing basic school necessities like uniforms, shoes, bags, and educational supplies.
"In one of our company's awarding events, one speaker mentioned that the best way to appreciate the value of hard-earned money is to know that the smallest amount means a million worth to the less fortunate," says Vangie, Sales Director and benefactor. "So when Empire East introduced the Support a Student (SAS) initiative, I did not hesitate to help," she continued.
"During SAS, we did not only meet our scholars but also the thankful parents, grandparents, and teachers. It is proof that we did not only help a child, we also impacted the community," says Arcel, Sales Director and also a sponsor.
As more Filipino students return to face-to-face learning, the glaring reality that impoverished households in rural areas face is mostly insufficient funds to secure the essential school items needed for learning and protecting against erratic climate conditions and economic situations.
For Empire East sales teams who volunteered, this is a great opportunity to help and share their blessings as they continue to reap the benefits of strong property demands even after the pandemic.
The young learners who received the much-needed school supplies were filled with joy and gratitude, offering “thank you” notes to their sponsors. Even the students’ parents expressed their thankfulness for the gifts that came right on time as school opened.
“Makakatulong po ang mga ito para sa pag-aaral ng mga bata. Maraming salamat po sa sapatos at sa bag dahil talagang kailangan po nila ito,” shares one parent.
Apart from the donation drive, donors also had the chance to personally hand over the materials and bond with their beneficiaries through games and activities. The children have expressed excitement and admiration to their generous sponsors they now call Ates and Kuyas, who selflessly made themselves available to meet with them.
With complete learning materials, the children now have the opportunity to fully focus on their studies as they set the course toward their dreams.
"Nagpapasalamat po ako sa mga nakasama po namin ngayon. Masayang-masaya po ako sa natanggap kong uniform at school supplies," says Argen, one of the students.
