Real estate developer Empire East Land Holdings Inc. continues campaigning for a sustainable future through its resilient developments, reforestation efforts, and community-centered Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

“We strive not only to be at our best in our business but also in giving back to society. CSR or Corporate Social Responsibility is something that is truly close to my heart,” said Empire East President and CEO Atty. Anthony Charlemagne C. Yu.

The company has always been a staunch advocate for a greener environment and other United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through its efforts under its corporate social responsibility arm, Empire East Cares.

This inclination allowed Empire East to tap into underserved sectors of society and create programs for the environment, education, youth and elderly, and health, among others.

Initiatives toward a greener future

In 2022, Empire East continued its mission of inclusive nation-building by supporting and empowering communities in need as the company established its triumph over the pandemic.

These initiatives included donation drives, feeding programs, and tree-planting activities conducted across communities in different parts of the country.

Last May 2022, the company's Property Development Division conducted a tree planting activity at Playa La Caleta Nursery in Bataan. Their team aims to plant mangrove seedlings yearly until they have grown into a sturdy mangrove forest.

100 Narra seedlings were planted at the one-day tree-planting activity in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

“We started with the Department's Tree Planting Activity last 2019, where we planted mangroves in Batangas. The plan was to plant additional mangroves every year until the mangrove became a forest. Then the pandemic happened. When the IATF allowed vaccinated individuals to travel again, we decided to continue with the tree planting activity,” said Ria San Juan, the head event organizer.

A duty to the community

More CSR activities were conducted to help communities navigate and recover from the pandemic.

Last December 2022, the company's Finance Department distributed over a hundred food packs and grocery items to various families in Payatas, Quezon City.

In addition, Empire East employees from the Credit and Collection Department conducted a feeding program and donated slippers as well as goods to almost 150 families of Brgy. Capisan in Zamboanga City before the holidays.

Inspiring beginnings

Empire East's vision of building unparalleled communities extends beyond building high-quality and adaptable developments -- the company is also committed to taking a holistic approach to spread its success by reaching out to communities and offering relief and inspiration.

"We gave birth to "Empire East Cares" when Typhoon Ondoy ravaged Metro Manila and nearby provinces in 2009. We did not think twice to launch donation drives for relief goods to survivors," shared Atty. Yu. "Then we wanted to comfort the calamity victims through "The Blanket Project" during Typhoon Yolanda, the Marawi Siege, and Taal Volcano Eruption."

Award-winning impacts and accomplishments

These initiatives were received warmly by the communities Empire East has helped, as well as local and international award-giving organizations.

The company has garnered three awards and recognitions over the years for its CSR efforts.

Empire East and its employee-volunteers have planted over 700 trees and seedlings around the country in partnership with local government units and foundations to support different reforestation efforts.

More to come

Empire East's dedication to sustainable and responsible community building is evident through its resilient developments and various Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. Participating in tree planting, relief, and donation efforts are only a few vital activities in fulfilling the company's mission of inclusive nation-building. This, together with other reforestation programs in the pipeline, shows the company's commitment to building more sustainable and greener communities for the future.
