Many have turned to their interests and hobbies the moment the Philippines went into lockdown. While others spent most of their time getting back in shape or cultivating healthy habits, others have opted to cope with gardening or designing. Either way, they all invested in their respective spaces as most have realized that they will be spending their time indoors due to COVID-19. With this, home gardening and redecorating your space with online finds became a widespread activity.

The Social Spaces group, composed of employees interested in plant and interior design, met up virtually in their recent meeting. The members have decided to name their group 'HomeBuds' to provide a space for home design and gardening folks.

Additionally, moderators have been elected to delegate future meetings. Christine Baisas from the General and Admin Services Department was elected as Space Moderator, while Roxanne Cruz and Irish Caña of the Marketing Department were assigned as Deputy Moderators.

According to Christine Baisas, the HomeBuds plan to meet twice a month to create an inclusive environment for both Home Buddies and Plantitos/Plantitas. The first meeting of the month focuses on sharing their best online finds and connecting through shared interests. The next meeting shall be for sharing information on ways to take care of plants and a chance to educate one other on botany.

HomeBuds is one of the many clubs under Social Spaces - an Empire East employee engagement program that aims to establish meaningful connections through shared interests and hobbies.

"We want our employees to continue seeking support groups for their interests to help them manage their social life and take care of their mental health amid the changing times," says Empire East President and CEO, Atty. Anthony Charlemagne C. Yu.
