There’s so much to do, yet it feels like there isn’t enough time to do them. Living in the Metro has always attracted millions of people yet, over time, it reveals increasing amounts of pros and cons as well.

And one of the most striking con, is that wasted time due to traffic, also means wasted money.

According to the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Metro Manila’s worsening traffic now costs Php 3.5 billion in lost opportunities per day which is higher than the estimated 2.4 billion back in 2012.

Chief representative of JICA Philippines Susumu Ito, has also said that Metro Manila’s population is expected to grow to 16M from 13M last 2015 and Mega Manila which includes Bulacan, Laguna, Rizal and Cavite to 38M from the 24M population count back in 2015.

A carpooling service called Uber also sponsored a third-party study of Metro Manila drivers where it discovered that on average, Manila drivers spend at least 66 minutes travelling in slow traffic and 24 minutes looking for parking every day. That’s almost 23 of your precious days wasted every year. Lastly, an average driver loses as much as PHP 100,000 every year just for being stuck in traffic and looking for parking.

We think we lose so much of our time on the road when in fact, we should be more worried about losing money alongside it.

Then it makes us wonder if being stuck on traffic makes us lose so much, then why not get little, if not none of it?

Living in a condo allows homeowners to cut traffic by half. Because of strategic, centrally-located addresses that are nearby the offices, schools, and malls, driving or commuting becomes less of a hassle.

Imagine being able to save up half of that much money spent on transportation? We could use that to book ourselves an overseas vacation, or open franchise or business accounts, and surprisingly to own a new home.

Play smart when it comes to choosing a home. One of the country’s top real estate developers, Empire East Land Holdings, Inc., has pioneered the ideal development for every motorist, commuter, and traveller.

With the aim to make accessibility and mobility a prime enjoyment in city living, Empire East launched its TODs or Transit-Oriented Developments that connect homes directly to mass-transit systems like the MRT3 and the LRT to offer transportation convenience. These projects namely, Pioneer Woodlands in Mandaluyong City and San Lorenzo Place in Makati City are directly connected to the MRT3 Boni Ave. Station and the MRT3 Magallanes station respectively. A new TOD project will also soon rise in along Shaw Boulevard called The Paddington Place that will be the modern cosmopolitan enclave in Mandaluyong City offering a three-minute walk to the MRT 3 Shaw Blvd. station.
