Paddington Bear, a character in the film released by British director Paul King, and conceptualized by English book author Michael Bond, may be less known to Filipinos than Winnie the Pooh ever is. But its influence – especially to those who have seen the movie, is one that is so remarkableempi – it sends a fuzzy warm feeling reminiscent of 'family time' in the yuletide season.

His adorableness, backed by a heart-pinching storyline made the film rank high in acceptability among the millions of its viewers around the world - with a central theme of 'Finding a home.'

This talking bear that once lived in the darkest jungles of Peru was forced to flee upon the strike of an earthquake - leaving their home shattered. He arrived in London via a ship and first made contact with the friendly Brown family at the Paddington train station, which of course, from where he was named after.

"Shouldn't you be at home?", says Mrs. Brown.

"Oh yes I should but, I haven't quite worked it out how to find one", replies Paddington.

And so here's where we learn a thing or two from Paddington Bear in finding a home.

1. Have a dream

Even before the calamity that struck his place, Paddington Bear has already been dreaming about coming to London. He has been hearing about how great the place is on the radio and has been discussing it with his aunt and uncle. The good thing about having this vision early on is that he developed an immediate plan when the sudden event happened.

2. Be persistent

Paddington Bear's initial plan was to find the hunter who gave him his hat years ago - in the hope that he may be willing to take care of him. It may have sounded simple, but this very feat is what sent him and the Brown family deep into the circles of adventure and drama, which surprisingly helped them to be more open to their feelings and closer to one another.

3. Be kind to those who help you

Paddington's natural politeness, albeit his naive behavior, and innocently comical antics, is one thing that helped him gain the trust and the love of the Brown family. Because of this, he was able to change their hearts into welcoming him home with them.

"Mrs. Brown says that in London everyone is different, and that means anyone can fit in. I think she must be right - because although I don't look like anyone else, I really do feel at home.", says Paddington.
