TAGUIG CITY -- Top property developer Empire East Land Holdings, Inc. takes part in the achievement of the United Nation's Sustainability Goals by the end of 2030.

Since its establishment in 1994, Empire East has already been actively answering various sustainability goals in and outside the workplace. Just by consistently putting the market's interest and reinventing the way people live by incorporating groundbreaking concepts to its developments, Empire East has already taken the sustainable road for more than 20 years.

When the Asian Financial Crisis hit the country in 1997, Empire East pioneered innovative concepts that catered to the middle-income market and responded to the qualms for a quality yet more affordable housing options. This paved the way for more people to acquire their own homes despite the crisis.

"We realize that we have already been addressing sustainability goals from the very beginning just by answering the basic needs of the market," says Empire East President and CEO Atty. Anthony Charlemagne C. Yu in the recent leaders' forum "SustainAGIlity" in Hilton Manila.

Empire East introduced inventive ideas such as its Transit-Oriented Developments, which ease the lives of the homeowners up to this day. This concept was birthed from the goal to make people live closer to work and cut across the traffic in Metro Manila. By then, the market already benefits from the company's efforts to bridge the gap between the homeowners' sanctuary and the bustling cities.

At present, commuting, one way or another, has become one of the most effective ways to lessen carbon footprint emission. While it still induces the production of some chemicals, it's on the ideal light than completely using cars too often.

Among other things, Empire East has been allotting more than the required open spaces in its developments, with some projects having 30% up to 40% open space, as part of sustainable goal number, which highlights the importance of sustainable cities and communities. This goal eyes to make cities and human settlements more inhabitable, safe, and sustainable by the end of 2030.

For more than 20 years, Empire East has been thriving to create more livable and inclusive communities that support and link the urban lifestyle with improved sustainable development planning.

The company's commitment to sustainability has long been practiced and achieved since it was established. Moreover, last year, Empire East launched its newest sustainable community set to rise along Felix Avenue in the Pasig-Cainta area. This luxurious uphill community in the East includes sustainable features that allow the residents to live healthily and more comfortably in the city.

Empire East Highland City is a 24-hectare mixed-use development with 8,000-square meter open space allotted for greeneries and family bonding activities. Aside from being the first elevated city in the Philippines which features a fusion of the urban and highland lifestyle, this community will have bike lanes and jogging paths that would allow the homeowners to walk their way in and out of the property.

Meanwhile, in the light of the new millennium's sustainability goal for gender equality, Empire East has been giving equal opportunities for women who hold significant positions in the company. The company believes that women are catalysts for the achievement of output-driven goals and aspirations as well as empowerment in the workplace.

Empire East also believes in the impact of women in society. By giving them an equal platform for their skills and including them in decision-making activities, it is assured that both women's and men's interests are taken into account in making a sustainable path for progress.

Empire East's commitment to creating developments to achieve sustainable urbanization, and providing equal opportunities to all genders in the workplace proves its effort in integrating key measures to further cascade the achievement of the 17 sustainable goals by 2030.
